2020 is the first year that the Department of Information Systems and Management Engineering enrolls undergraduates. In order to let students fully understand the situation and majors, at 7 pm on October 18th, the first instructor meeting and the first major introduction meeting of the Department of Information Management The promotion meeting was held in the study workshop.
The meeting consists of three parts: a speech by the division head, an introduction of research directions and a face-to-face communication with tutors. All tutors from the department attended that evening and attracted nearly 60 students.
This meeting was hosted by Assistant Professor Yang Lei. The head of the department, Professor Weiling Ke, gave an opening speech, introducing the overall development of the department, giving warmly welcome to the students, and looking forward to all the students' freely expressing their ideas and expectations.
Later, Associate Professor Yang Lei introduced the curriculum features and faculty of the department. It has a high-level teaching and research team. All faculty members come from overseas prestigious schools. The major of the department has the characteristics of the intersection of management and liberal arts, sciences, sciences and medicine. It not only emphasizes professional theory, but also emphasizes application and practice. It focuses on training students to understand problems from business in a business environment and use big data analysis methods to solve problems.
Gongming Qian, Shaobo Li, Maoliang Ye, Jae Yun Kim and Moris Strub, representing several research directions such as international business, marketing, economics, behavior and financial engineering, shared how big data and information management can be organically combined with these research fields. They used professional knowledge and humorous language to explain in detail, and interacted cordially with the students. Professor Zheng Qin and Associate Professor Yue Guo made a brief summary. They suggested that like-minded friends can join the department, study in a team, break through the limitations of thinking, and get effective feedback. After the wonderful introduction by the tutors, it is believed that the Department of Information Systems and Management Engineering is a nice choice for everyone.
In the last session, the students had further communication with their favorite tutor. The tutors have patiently answered questions about major requirements, curriculum settings, research directions, employment destinations, etc. Until the end of the event, the students left the meeting reluctantly. The whole activity has a clear theme and a warm atmosphere, which successfully stimulated the students' interest in studying in the department.
